• Photos: Images you capture or select from your photo library to associate with your boxes
• Account Information: Basic subscription status and entitlements managed through our payment processor
• Smart Analysis Data (Optional): With your explicit consent, box photos may be sent to third-party AI services for intelligent analysis and content recognition

• Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and app version for compatibility purposes
• Subscription Data: Information about your subscription tier (Free, Limited, or Unlimited) to provide appropriate features

How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

• Core Functionality: To provide box organization features, including storing and displaying your box information, photos, tags, and items
• Photo Management: To enable you to take photos with your camera or select photos from your library to organize your boxes
• Subscription Management: To manage your subscription tier and provide access to premium features
• Smart Photo Analysis (Optional, with consent): To analyze box photos using AI services to automatically identify and suggest box contents, making organization easier
• App Improvements: To understand how users interact with the app and improve functionality

Data Storage and Security

Local Storage and iCloud Sync

• All your box data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework
• Your data automatically syncs across your Apple devices through iCloud when you're signed in with your iCloud account
• Photos, box information, tags, and items sync seamlessly between your iPhone and iPad
• iCloud sync is handled entirely by Apple using their secure infrastructure
• We do not have access to your iCloud data - it's protected by Apple's end-to-end encryption
• Your data remains private and under your control at all times

Security Measures

• Data is stored securely using iOS standard encryption mechanisms
• iCloud sync uses Apple's end-to-end encryption to protect your data
• Photos are compressed and stored locally with JPEG compression
• No data transmission to our servers (except subscription verification and optional photo analysis)

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

Apple iCloud (Data Sync)

• Purpose: To sync your box data across your Apple devices
• Data Synced: All your box information, photos, tags, and items
• Security: Protected by Apple's end-to-end encryption and your iCloud account
• Control: You can disable iCloud sync at any time through your device Settings

OpenAI API (Smart Photo Analysis - Optional)

• Purpose: To provide intelligent photo analysis and content recognition for box organization
• When Used: Only when you explicitly enable and consent to the smart analysis feature
• Data Sent: Box photos only (no personal information, box titles, or other metadata)
• Data Handling: Photos are sent anonymously without any identifying information
• Data Retention: We do not store photos on external servers; they are processed in real-time and discarded

• Note: You can opt out of this feature at any time, and it requires your explicit consent before activation

RevenueCat (Subscription Management)

• Purpose: To manage in-app purchases and subscriptions
• Data Collected: Anonymous user identifier, subscription status, and purchase history

Permissions

The App requests the following permissions:

Camera Access

• Purpose: To take photos of your boxes for easy identification
• When Requested: When you choose to capture a new photo
• Usage: Photos are stored locally on your device only

Photo Library Access

• Purpose: To select existing photos from your library to associate with boxes
• When Requested: When you choose to add photos from your library
• Usage: Selected photos are copied and stored locally in the app

Smart Photo Analysis (Optional Feature)

• Purpose: To analyze box photos and automatically identify contents using AI
• When Requested: Only when you explicitly enable this feature and provide consent
• Usage: Photos are sent anonymously to third-party AI services for analysis
• Data Sent: Only the photo itself, with no personal information or metadata
• Opt-Out: You can disable this feature at any time in the app settings

You can revoke camera and photo library permissions at any time through your device Settings.

Data Sharing

• We do not sell your personal information to third parties
• We do not share your box data, photos, or items with anyone, except:
  • iCloud: Your data is synced to your personal iCloud account (managed by Apple)
  • Smart Analysis (Optional, with consent): Box photos only are sent anonymously to AI services for analysis
  • RevenueCat: Subscription status and anonymous identifiers for subscription management
• Your data stored in iCloud is protected by Apple's security and privacy policies
• When using smart analysis, photos are sent without any identifying information, metadata, or personal details
• No personal information is ever shared with third-party AI services

Data Retention

• Your data is stored on your devices and in your iCloud account indefinitely until you choose to delete it
• Deleting a box or photo removes it from your device and syncs the deletion across all your devices through iCloud
• Uninstalling the app will remove the local copy, but your data remains in your iCloud account
• To completely remove all data, delete it within the app before uninstalling, or manage iCloud storage through iOS Settings
• Photos sent for smart analysis are not stored on external servers and are discarded immediately after processing
• We do not retain backups of your data on our servers - all backups are managed through your iCloud account

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: View all your stored data within the app
• Modify: Edit or update any box information, photos, tags, or items
• Delete: Remove individual boxes, photos, or items at any time
• Export: Your data remains accessible through standard iOS backup mechanisms
• Revoke Permissions: Disable camera or photo library access at any time through iOS Settings
• Opt-Out of Smart Analysis: Disable the photo analysis feature at any time in app settings

Children's Privacy

SmartBox is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:

• Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
• Providing an in-app notification for significant changes

Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.

International Users

SmartBox is designed for use worldwide. By using the App, you consent to the transfer and processing of your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy, regardless of your location.

Data Protection Rights (GDPR)
